Learn More About the 2018 Toyota Rav4 in Burns Harbor, IN

Six years ago, Toyota totally redesigned its popular compact crossover SUV, the RAV4. The 2018 model builds on that redesign, showing off new and improved features in the visually appealing and functional package.

Trim Levels

The 2018 Toyota RAV4 comes in six trim levels, which include LE, XLE, Adventure, SE, Limited, and Platinum. It is also available as a hybrid model, although this a separate vehicle in Toyota's lineup. The LE exterior includes rear privacy glass, 17-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, and integrated blind spot mirrors in the side mirrors. Step up to the XLE to get a sunroof, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, and fog lights. Opting for the Adventure trim adds black bezels in the headlights, 18-inch black wheels, and black roof rails.

With the SE trim, features include LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights, sportier suspension tuning, and 18-inch silver alloy wheels, while the Limited boasts chrome exterior trim, a height-adjustable and power-operated liftgate, and its own set of 18-inch wheels. The top Platinum comes standard with a hands-free liftgate and upgraded exterior trim.

Engine

Beneath the hood of this SUV is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 172 pound-feet of torque and 176 horsepower. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission that offers smooth shifting for a more comfortable ride.

Performance

All models of the 2018 RAV4 come with front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive is available as an upgrade. The EPA fuel economy estimates on a model with front-wheel drive come in at 23 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined. All-wheel drive will drop the estimates slightly to 22 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Interior

Within the interior of the 2018 RAV4 LE model, you'll notice a six-speaker sound system with a USB port and auxiliary jack, Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.1-inch touch screen, selectable driving modes, and manually adjustable front seats. Opt for the XLE and your SUV will include sporty seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Standard interior features on the Adventure include unique doorsill protectors, a themed shift lever, a power outlet in the cargo area, and special floor mats.

The SE trim tacks on a nicer version of Toyota's Entune infotainment system, smartphone-based navigation, paddle shifters, simulated leather upholstery, and power-adjustable and heated front seats. With the Limited, features include the smart key system, driver memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and Entune Premium with navigation. At the top of the list, the Platinum has a JBL audio system and a heated steering wheel.

Safety Features

All 2018 Toyota RAV4 models come equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense P package, which includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. The Limited trim adds blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Platinum also adds front and rear parking sensors.
